Garage and attic cleanouts, single-room remodels, small roof tear-offs.
Roof tear-offs are one of the most common jobs we haul, and they are the one where the usual instinct β take the biggest container available β is wrong.
Shingles are dense. A full residential tear-off can pass the weight limit while the container still looks half empty. Book for the weight, not the volume, and the job costs what you expected.
Every container has an included tonnage, and overage is $75 per ton off the landfill scale ticket. The 15 yard includes two tons, the 20 includes three, the 25 includes four.
A square of asphalt shingles β 100 square feet β runs roughly 250 pounds for a standard three-tab, and appreciably more for architectural or a second layer. On a typical single-family roof that arithmetic gets to two tons quickly and to four tons more easily than people expect.
So a 25 yard on a roof job does not buy you protection; it buys you space to keep loading past the point where you are being charged for it. The 15 yard forces the sizing conversation up front, and on a bigger roof two 15s are cheaper and more manageable than one 25 run over weight.
Two things decide the answer: the square footage of the roof, and how many layers are coming off. A single layer over 20 squares is a very different load from two layers over 35.
Mention it if there is decking coming off as well, or if the tear-off includes tile, slate or built-up roofing β those change the weight calculation entirely. Call with those numbers and we will tell you plainly what to book rather than selling you the largest container on the list.
On a roof job the container wants to be as close to the drop zone as it can safely sit, because every extra step is carried weight. Tell us where you want it and we will place it there if the approach allows.
We need roughly 60 feet of straight approach and 23 feet of overhead clearance. Boards go down under the wheels to protect the driveway as a matter of course, and on a tear-off that matters more than usual β you are putting a lot of dense material into a container sitting in one spot for the duration.
Asphalt shingles, felt, ridge cap, flashing, decking and the general debris of a tear-off are all fine. Roofing tar as part of a tear-off is fine too.
What is not: asphalt paving, and concrete, dirt or fill of any kind. If there is masonry coming off a chimney with the roof, keep it out of the load and call us about it separately.
Straight pricing, quoted in full before anything rolls. Every rental includes delivery, pickup and disposal up to the included tonnage. Need it longer? Extra days are just $10/day.

For most residential roofs, a 15 yard β and that is the right answer rather than a compromise. Shingles reach the weight limit before they fill the container, so a larger box mainly gives you room to run up overage at $75 per ton.
It depends on the shingle type and how many layers, which is why we ask for square footage and layer count rather than quoting a flat number. Call with those two figures and we will tell you what to book.
Sometimes, but it frequently means going over the included tonnage. On a two-layer tear-off it is usually cheaper to run two 15 yards than one container over weight.
Yes, decking and general tear-off debris are fine in the same load.
Call first. Both are considerably heavier than asphalt and change the sizing entirely.
The landfill scales the truck loaded and empty and the difference is your weight. You are billed off that ticket, not an estimate, and we can show it to you.
